I have installed an Innovate Motorsports DB Air Fuel gauge.

I wanted the gauge in an easy to use spot, and seeing the stock water temp gauge is useless i cut that out and installed it in there.

I did it tonight so don't have any progress pics as it wasn't the best light. If anyone has any specific questions on trying to do something similar i'll be happy to answer.

that's awesome.
So how does it read, just a sensor in the manifold or..?
I wish on series 8 they kept the oil pressure guage instead of putting a boost guage in.. I would much rather oil pressure.
There's no way for me to read it without buying an aftermarket sensor and guage hey? sorry slightly off topic

It has a sensor in the exhaust. In that pic it was just reading air hence the 22.4 reading.
I think on an S8 you would need an aftermarket gauge for oil pressure as the loom would be different.

Thats a good value guage, i think i,ll get one. Great place to mount it too. My fuel pump shat it self during a drift comp on sunday and some extra data would have been handy. Engine kept dying when i was trying to power out of corners. Really sucks cos i was in good form.

hi m8
how have you routed the sensor cable from the mid pipe to inside the cabin
would you mind showing us?
cheers!

The cable from the mid section is easy...
There is a grommet under the driver's seat that has a stock cable running through it... This becomes pretty useless when you change the exhaust as it is the exhaust temp sensor, which no one ever fits to their new exhaust...
So it would be pretty easy to run it through there...
But Brad... shouldn't it be in the dump pipe, as close to the engine as possible...?

I already have one sensor in the DP for the apexi and since i have no cats it doesn't really matter. Its not being used for tuning, just for an indication if things are ok. Same with the EGT i will install, just a second reference.
I have the sensor coming up through the gearbox hole.

won't this give a check engine light or heat light for the jap versions? read a thread on rx7club with an aussy bloke who had a import and his car was running in limp mode cause he didnt have that sensor in. or will a pfc elimate this from happening?

Mine's a series 8 and I took off my stock exhaust off the other day...and there wasn't any exhaust temp sensor connected to it/ or any disconnected wiring/plug around the vicinity of the driver's seat.
But I know which grommet you're refering to.
Perhaps mine was removed when they welded on the new cat during complaince..

info on sensor placement from a pretty reputable guy.. The guy who makes the wb02 widebands.
basically midpipe location is about right for the sensor placement...at the dump is too hot for normal sensor operation
