yeh I am lazy so havent checked the name...
I spoke to Ric Shaw, he recommended going for RE55 in an SR compound, so now I'm on the hunt for them... will buy them next week, hoping $350 or better

Considering the exchange rate that sounds a pretty decent price.
Cheers,
Dave

The RE001 is not a semi.
That size a semi should be a bit cheaper. You should be able to get a set of the Kumho's fir a decent price in that size as it is a control tyre.

With $950 to burn, that's most of a set of RE55s ;)
Group buy?! :)

I'm looking at $350 x 4 = $1400 OR LESS for 4 brand new semis in stock size.
Happy to go Kumhos but will have to find another dealer, guy I am asking is 100% bridgestone dealer and for most of the guys racing at Wanneroo....
how much are you wanting for your set, was that the set that are two new-ish and two rooted ones, and the rims sold separately or was that someone else

=/
for the 235x40x17 its something like $470 each new, so $1000 im asking is a dam good deal
two BRAND NEW and two 98% - used for 1/2 day, virtually new, still have the original paint lines on them, so yea, hardly used.
rims separate, but a good deal can be done for someone wanting rims and tyres!
check my for sale thread =]

Those tyres are a bargain.
And i will write it again as it seems you missed it the first time. RE001 IS NOT A SEMI SLICK TYRE.

I heard you first time doc, that's why I then said "now on the hunt for RE55.
If you're talking about the ones for sale, he said RE55 too... who said anything about RE001 since the first post up top????/ im confused
I dont wanna buy rims just so i can buy your 17s but thanks anyway, would rather fork out whatever i have to for 16s, then later when i get nice 18s for street, I can keep using the 16s for semis on track, or even full slicks on track
What state are you in though, if it is WA then I might though, as there's no freight cost, then i could just grab some stocker 17s off someones RS etc. temporarily hmmm

Ok, sorry mate, just you were still talking about $350 a tyre so you had me confused.
Give Andrew Mills a call on 0417 897 913 and chat to him about the V70A in that size. Last set i bought (was a while back now) was only 1k for a set. Though ask about good second handies as well.
Alex is East Coast.

sorry should have clarified.... thanks doc i will call him as freight might not be much for tyres
i am also looking at that set from alex, if i can get stock 17 rims for 200-300 bucks i will happily do that and just sell my stock 16 rims.... then get differet set of 18s for street later on and keep the track set of rims/tyres in either 16or17

You're not going to drift on semi-slicks are you RXH?
RXHEAVEN

For now I'm doing circuit but yes I will drift them later....
Another thing people don't understand with Drift is you need maximum grip, if you don't believe me go do some reading and also look at what tyres the D1 level guys are using ;)
I got my set of RE55s for $1600. That was for 235/45/17 and 255/40/17. They're fucking awesome!!

they look like they still have some decent pattern in them for water dispersion, are they really that bad in the wet? or are you just talking semis in general being less than ideal in the wet

They are fine in damp, even somewhat wet conditions, they just won't handle standing water.

not much does anyway..... I have aquaplaned on anything from nankangs to Toyo T1R...... standing water = enjoy your sideways time and watch out for poles :)

OK I got these fitted this afternoon... oh my god..... they are unreal...
my car feels like it has AWD grip, when you swerve left and right it feels like an EVO, kinda resists your turning..
Also, dropping 2nd gear no longer wheel spins... and when you throw it sharp into a corner (quick flick rather than gradual turn in, you feel the LSD gearing up, instead of the back end just stepping out without any feel..)
I RATE THESE FANTASTIC.
Track day tomorrow will show how they hold up at bigger speeds though.

not sure, haven't done timed runs on stockies, but the car had infinitely more grip so I reckon it's a big difference... At barbagallo I was still flat on the gas til after the end of the pitt wall, and on the brakes at the last moment, most other people where braking hard before the end of the wall and coming in at lower speed
