View Full Version : Power FC Version for Series 7?

Hey all,

Anyone help, I want to get a Power FC for a 1996 series 7 FD, I have heard they have different versions and the plugs are different on a series 6 to series 7, anyone know if this is true? can anyone recommend what version to get for series 7, also anyone have hookups in NZ.

To tell whether the PFC is old or new just have a look at the serial number on the side of it.

For a FDS1-3 / Series 6:

Old Version = Serial starts with FD3S'2'-XXXX-XXXX
New Version = Serial starts with FD3S'4'-XXXX-XXXX

For a FDS4 / Series 7

Old Version = FD3S-XXXX-XXXX
New Version = FD3S'5'-XXXX-XXXX

For FDS5-6 / Series 8

Old Version = FD3S'3'-XXXX-XXXX
New Version = FD3S'6'-XXXX-XXXX

If your going to buy a used one and the owner is unsure for which model its for, get a photo of the serial number which will save you a lot of grief.

It seems that Power FC's are rather hard to come by in little old NZ. Anyone know where to get one in NZ let me know. I really dont want to have to settle for a microwreck, hahaha

check with dealers that bring in FD3S... i know Fast 4 & Turbos in Grey Lynn had a few... that they took out of cars and put standard ecu prior to selling... what about tune shops try em also... & the trusty trademe or T&E....

might pay to check with Tony from RX-7 Heaven in East Tamaki if he has any also...

Redline performance in Penrose used to stock em.... I bought mine from www.nengun.com (http://www.nengun.com) cos at the time it only cost $800NZ landed.... sadly the dollar looks a bit shabby these days

I bought my power FC from this guy, just tell him what year / series your FD is and he will send it. He has his parts in Australia as well so it only took 3 days for it to arrive.
