Got my car on a skidpan today, understeered like crazy for some reason... is this normal for a series 8 FD? if not, what could be wrong?:confused:
Car is stock with stock bilstein suspension, 18" rims, 235 front, 265 rear, pumped up to 42psi

Didn't we go through all this on ausrotary...?
Your tyre presures are way too high. 42psi is insane, even on 18's.
And then there is the crappy factory of what ever the tyres are. If they are normal road type tyres, then that goes against you too.

Are tough on the FD ...
Too much first gear work does not suit the Sequential Turbo's
The Data logging RICE and I did on my Spirit R has proven the
Bilstein to be "fucking useless" and the current lowest denominator on my car.
An FD can accelerate harder and more smoothly in
third gear than first gear under certain loads and speeds.
Your skidpan day looked dry ... in the wet it is even more pronounced.
The Driving instructor tried my car and it is non-ideal for skid pan's
too much power delivery in spurts.

Yep, we went over this in ausrotary, but more opinions are always good. Especially this being a FD only forum :) :)
And yes, falkens...
what about aftermarket sway bars and stuff? would those help?

Paul talked about this on here with me and he is pretty much right. Your tyre pressures and tyre quality are the main problem, that along with what Nathan is saying that skid pans and low speed stuff just doesn't suit FD's. It would also be worth looking at your alignment settings.
Stock sway bars are good enough until you get to really high end stuff from my experience.
